Creando ese texto he aprendido bastantes cosas curiosas:

--- El rey de Malasia cambia cada 5 años. Se rotan entre los 9 sultanes de los 9 estados reales de Malasia. El actual es el sultán de Johor.

--- El sultán de Johor es motero. Y uno de los eventos que creó es una caravana motera, en la que va por el estado durante 3-4 días visitando las áreas más remotas del estado. ¡Mola!

Aquí comparto los textos y algunas respuestas de los alumnos

MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2026 – THE KING'S BIRTHDAY
Next Monday, June 1, is a national holiday in Malaysia. "The King's Birthday" is celebrated. For that reason, we will have a three-day weekend—how great!

But who is the King of Malaysia?

The current King of Malaysia (whose official title is Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which translates to "He who is made Lord") is Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. Interestingly, he was not born on June 1, but came into the world on November 22, 1958. In Malaysia, the King's birthday is celebrated on the first Monday of June. It is similar in the United Kingdom; the official celebration this year will be on Saturday, June 13, 2026, but King Charles III was born on November 14, 1948.

Let's read the biography of the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim. He was born in the state of Johor and is now 67 years old. He completed his secondary education at Trinity Grammar School in Sydney, Australia, from 1968 to 1970. After finishing high school, he was sent to Pusat Latihan Tentera Darat (PULADA) in Kota Tinggi for basic military training. He also received military training in the United States, at Fort Benning, Georgia, and later at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In the United States, he learned to fly airplanes and helicopters, and he became very interested in luxury cars and motorcycles.

In 1982, he married Zarith Sofiah, a princess from the state of Perak, and together they had 6 children. He was crowned as the Sultan of Johor on March 23, 2015. Sultan Ibrahim loves motorcycles, and in 2001 he created an event called Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ), which translates from Malay as "The Johor Crown Tour." The goal is to break down traditional barriers between royalty and ordinary citizens. To understand the problems of his people, especially those living in rural areas, fishing villages, and indigenous communities far from Johor Bahru, Sultan Ibrahim travels through the 10 districts of the state of Johor by motorcycle for 3 or 4 days. It is a route of about 800-1000 kilometers, and the Sultan usually rides a Harley-Davidson motorcycle from his personalized collection.

On January 31, 2024, he became the 17th King of all Malaysia in a grand ceremony in the city of Kuala Lumpur. In Malaysia, the position of King of the nation is not hereditary; it does not pass from parents to children. The throne rotates every five years among the sultans of the 9 royal states of Malaysia. For this reason, on January 31, 2029, Sultan Ibrahim will step down as King of Malaysia.

CONFERENCE LEAGUE FINAL
In the city of Madrid, Spain, there are three football teams: Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, and Rayo Vallecano. I lived in Madrid for three years, from November 1998 to May 2001, and my favorite Madrilenian team is Rayo Vallecano. This photo was taken on October 29, 2000. I was with a friend at Rayo Vallecano's stadium, watching the match between Rayo Vallecano and Deportivo Alavés, which is the team from the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Deportivo Alavés won that match, 0-1. As you can see, I am wearing a Rayo Vallecano jersey.

I like Rayo Vallecano because it is a modest team. During the 2025-26 season, Real Madrid's budget was 1.248 billion euros. Atlético de Madrid's budget was 554 million, and Rayo Vallecano's budget was only 55 million euros. That's crazy! Atlético de Madrid's budget is 10 times larger than Rayo Vallecano's budget, and Real Madrid's is more than 20 times larger.

However, Rayo Vallecano had an excellent season in the First Division of the Spanish League (La Liga). They finished in eighth place and reached the final of the Conference League, which is the third most important competition in Europe. The first most important is the Champions League (the final will be on May 30 between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal), the second most important is the Europa League (the final was played on May 20 and Aston Villa beat Freiburg), and the third is the Conference League. Rayo Vallecano played the Conference League final on Wednesday, May 27, in Leipzig, Germany, against a team from London called Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, Rayo Vallecano lost the final 1-0. The only goal was scored by Mateta in the 51st minute.

This Wednesday, May 27, 2026, there were two important events: the Feast of the Sacrifice (Eid al-Adha) and the football "Conference League" final. Let me tell you a bit about these two events and my experience (text written by Mr. Castro).

THE FEAST OF THE SACRIFICE (THE FEAST OF THE LAMB)
The Feast of the Lamb, Celebration of the Sacrifice, or Eid al-Adha is one of the most important celebrations for Muslims. It is a public holiday in Malaysia, and for that reason, we didn't have classes at the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) on Wednesday. According to the Islamic lunar calendar, it begins on the tenth day of the twelfth month and lasts for four days. In our Gregorian calendar, this date moves forward by 11 days every year. This year it was celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, and in 2027 it will be celebrated on May 16. For the 2026-27 school year, the festival will fall on a Sunday, so the public holiday will be moved to Monday, giving us a 3-day weekend.

The origin of this celebration comes from a story that appears in both the Bible and the Quran. God/Allah told Abraham that to prove his faith in Him, he had to sacrifice his first son, Isaac. Abraham took a knife and went to sacrifice his firstborn, Isaac, but God/Allah, seeing that Abraham followed his instructions, sent him a lamb and told him, "You have passed the test, sacrifice this lamb."

In the mosques of Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, they sacrificed many animals: lambs, sheep, cows, and buffaloes. I, Mr. Castro, went to two mosques near ISKL on Wednesday, in the neighborhood of Desa Pandan, to see the atmosphere. One mosque is called Ar-Rahimah and the other is called Nurul Hidayah. After the morning prayer, around 9:30 AM or 10:00 AM, the animal sacrifices began. Tradition dictates that after sacrificing an animal, the meat is divided into three parts:

One part is for the person who bought the animal.

Another part is for their friends and family.

The third part is for people in need.

It was a very cultural morning, learning more about the culture of this country!
