Documentary Film La vida del Sr. Castro AES MS, 25 April 2025
An 8th grade student sent me the following email on April 8th:
¨Dear Señor Castro,
My name is Pablo, and I am a member of the MS Filmmaking class. We are working on a short documentary project about people who work in the AES community. I selected you for this project because I want to know more about you as the MS Spanish teacher. We hope that these documentaries will allow us to introduce you to the broader AES MS community.
If you would like to be part of this project, I would like to interview and film you soon. Would you be available this Thursday, April 10 anytime from 2:30-3:30? I will need only 15 minutes of your time. Please let me know what time works best for you. I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.
Sincerely,
Pablo¨
I told him that I was on board, and he came with another student to record.
I enjoyed a lot the process, clearly they knew what they were doing. The emails Pablo sent were very formal, professional and respectful, and no doubt this is also something they learned from their teacher in the Filmmaking class. The questions were well prepared, and as a good filmmaker, he took a lot of footage to just select what worked best for him and for the time allowed.
Very happy with the final product, he did a great job! Pablo´s documentary wasn’t just a class project, it reached a wider audience today when it was shown at the weekly middle school assembly. I love these opportunities for students to showcase their work in front of a real audience.
